Would it be worth it to just get the high performance editions, and slow them down, or are they using a different motor?

unless you have voltage control and are willing to hear a big noise at startup, no. I dont think so.  Everyone recommends silent editions over performance.

Oh, forgot to mention that I'll be getting the PWM ones, so I'll be able to control the RPM. But if they sound annoying either way, then I'll get the quiet ones. I actualy had them, but returned them because they were making abuzzing noise, which I don;t think was normal.

I have the Performance edition ones and can't stand them unless I am gaming. They are loud as fuck and also have that buzzing motor noise however they do pus dat air doe. I bought a fan controller so now they are no problem. T

I own 2 as well, well 4 total. They are loud at full rpm but are not too loud around 30% speed or so. I use ASRock FANTastic software tuning that you can create a chart that sets the fan seed to low when idling and high when gaming since i wear headphones. I really enjoy the look and feel of the fans, even though they don't transmit the most air per noise. I would suggest that you get the high rpm version, but if you don't feel like controlling the fan, get the quiet version.

Get some noiseblocker blacksilent pros instead, they are miles better than the corsairs and the same

With my fan controller, at mid speed yes. Low and high dont buzz.

Well, just wanted to say that i got the quiet edition ones, and they buzz all the time except at max speed. I guess it really is worth twice the price for the noctua industrials   shame too, as my af140 is nearly silent.
