Good build?

Butterfish

Herrow, I'm building a system for my friends little brother and i need your opinion on the parts. I want to build a powerful system for the budget of 7000 kr (DKK). Using the website www.proshop.dk

What do you think of this build, and are there any things you think i should change. This is the very first time a made a AMD build so i need to know if i did good :P

The PC will be used for gaming mostly. Things like Arma 3, DayZ, CS:GO and plenty of other games.

7hcrL50.png

Total price is around 6.920 kr.

Not bad at all though you might want to swap that PSU out for a CS550M from corsair If you can. I'm not a big fan of XFX, friends had XFX PSU's and they all died or fried a component pretty quickly.

970A motherboards do not perform well with the 8000 series. Get a 990FX.

I would get a 990fx motherboard instead, as it can handle the higher TDP and overclocks better than that 970 mobo. Not sure which, but that would certainly improve it.

R9 290 a bit overkilled (although DayZ and ArmA 3 are quite hard to deal with I believe) ? I'm in it's fine anyway, you can go a bit down and get the 280/280X. Plus try getting a 990FX board since you are getting the FX-8000 CPU

Just like the people before mentioned, try to get a motherboard with the 990FX chipset. It's more up to date than the 970A with higher CPU TDP support of 140W vs 125W. Get something like Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 or M5A99X EVO R2.0 for example

Looks good i think,

you may not need 4 gb of ram on your GPU

ps. er fra også fra Danmark :)

I know, but the 290 doesn't come in 2GB versions. At least i think so

Might be overkill with the GPU, but he gave me a budget and why not build the most powerful pc within the budget? ;)

Is he going to OC with that CPU ? I'm thinking about Haswell-refresh Core i5s, would be totally fine as well  :D

If you can find a good H97 board with gaming capabilities like strong on-board sound and networking and then pair it with a Core i5 = strong gaming PC right there

He will not be overclocking. Is it better to go with intel then?

Well, if the build is specific for gaming then I would go with Core i5, that's about it. You wouldn't want to buy that FX CPU if you're got gonna OC it.

Made this build instead on a different website. Actually cheaper than the AMD build!

Okay, so here is the intel version. I've got to skip the R9 290 since its above the budget now.

Get a non-K CPU man, that 4690K is overclock-able. Get a cheaper 4690 (without the K), then you'll got money back to get the R9 290 :D

That's gonna hurt like hell right there. I'm a bit out of clue right now, or rather just stick with the early AMD FX build as the last choice.
Probably we'll wait and see if anyone here have a better idea.

Tried making a build on another website with the non-k 4690. Still about 250kr above budget. Going to hear them out if it's okay

True, but his littlebrother is not that good with computers so he doesn't know how to use C: Drive (SSD) for OS and D: (HDD) for storage. I'll just throw in a single 1TB so i wont confuse him. ;)
