Antec DF-35 case, ASUS crosshair 4 formula, AMD FX-8350, XFX Radeon R9 270X or AMD HD series GDDR 2 or better, 7500W full Modular psu, ballistix elite 1866 two 4 GB sticks. i havent built this yet so im still trying to finalize the plan. are there GPus better than the R9 270X that are in the HD series? should i get anything higher in the R9 series? which brand?

GDDR5. GDDR2 is from the middle of last decade.

Save some shekels and get an FX-6300. You don't need all that CPU horsepower for gaming unless you are trying to max every single game, in which case I would build an Intel system.

You don't need a gaming-grade motherboard. Just get a good motherboard with overclocking support. You get no benefit shelling out more dosh for a motherboard just for sex appeal.

For the GPU I would say the 270 is in the sweet spot for price to performance. Save yourself about $20 and get the 270, not the 270X, then just overclock it. It's really simple and will run better than the 270X. There are of course more powerful GPUs in the HD series, (Five, in fact) but there's no reason to spend loads on a GPU that is beefier if you are just trying to max all your games at 1080p. The 270 will do that just fine. to be honest you'd be better off getting a 7870. Same exact card, just cheaper.

A PSU of 550W will set you up just fine for your build. No sense getting an overpowered PSU if you're not going to use what it has. Just make sure it's from a decent company. Don't use stock PSUs EVER. I would recommend the CX500, brilliant PSU for me.

Hope this helps.

If you wanted a newer, more efficient architecture, you could go with an R7 265. That's a 2nd-Gen R-series card and it's a solid card.

Its a great cpu, I built a pc with a buddy of mine and it handles games and general usage well considering it's price.
