Pentium G3258 Overclocking!

EVGA Hadron + 500 Watt 80+ Gold PSU

M-ITX ASRock Z87E-ITX LGA 1150 Intel Z87

EVGA GTX 750 Ti FTW Edition

16 GB of G Skills RAM

SAMSUNG 840 EVO 120 GB

WD Blue 1 TB

Pentium G3258

 

So my question is how should I overclock my Pentium G3258 relatively cheaply and still get decent performance. Much Appreciated!

Get Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and you can OC quite far. It's different for every chip but G3258's tend to go far.

So you dont want to use the stock cooler? Which Case are you going to use, or whats the max. height for cpu heatsinks on it?

G3258s run cool, so you can aircool OC pretty easily. Try 1.100 VCore with say, a 4.2 GHz overclock and see if that's stable, then you can see about finding the sweetspot for voltage and frequency. (4.5 GHz is what most people recommend on air)

How come you wouldn't want to buy a better performing quad core cpu. Personally I'd get the cpu power down then get a okay dokie discrete gpu afterwards

There's some low-profile solutions out there, correct? Noctua / Cooler Master could have something much better than the stock intel heatsink/fan which can fit in your case.

I went with a MicroATX minitower, the N200 - it can fit a Hyper 212 easily.

He can get the EVGA ACX ITX cooler, it fits fine.

He used it in Dezel's editing rig until he started it up and it was running extremely hot.

No reason? Potentially tons more cooling than smaller formfactors. YOU SIR ARE A BLASPHEMER! And if you find ATX too big what room for midgets do you play in?

Intel stock coolers are pretty horrible, you could perhaps get to 3.6 or 3.7 GHz  with 1.080 vcore to be safe, but like I said earlier, depends on your chip.
