This verison is just a little bit more expensive and when you go this route if you decide to upgrade your video card and cpu you wont have to upgrade the PSU.

Overall the choice is yours.

Usage: Gaming

- Games: I would like to be able to run World of Tanks, Skyrim, Hitman Absolution, and other similarly demanding games at 1080p, 50+ FPS, high-maximum settings,

Budget: I would prefer the computer to stay under $700, but if needed I can increase my budget to $750-$800.

Location: USA

Preferred merchants: Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, NCIX US.

I do not need a keyboard, mouse, or monitor included as I already have the three.

Color scheme: Black and Blue.

CPU Preference: Intel.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

LOL, you want to video edit and game on an intel build under $700.

Video editing is fine with an i5 but an i7 is where it's at, if I were you, I'd wait for Broadwell which is being release @ Q3 or Q4 of this year. There's going to be consumer/enthusiast chips with 6 and 8 cores. Video editing will definitely benefit from this. $700 is almost at the sweet spot for a good gaming PC/recording PC. I'd say around $1200 would be decent.

6 core maybe for that price range would eat half of his budget....8 cores damn near 1000 USD for just a chip

Rendering is fine it just will be slow...editing is fine too as long as you don't use intensive RAM usage programs. Actually its a pretty good base computer to upgrade from there on...honestly I could help you get a good base computer to start on then upgrade it as time progresses (at least that is how I would do it).

I thought that the manufacturing process was going to be way cheaper and they'll be using less silicon since the chips are smaller. But I guess, just wait and see.

Both are flawed with the use of single-channel memory, but you can get another 8GB DIMM and make it 16GB dual channel.

The 760 is overpriced as balls and inferior to the similarly priced competition. If he wants to stay within the budget, he would have a better chance with an R9 270X/R9 280.

I agree with this and his builds tho for what you are doing since you don't have the RAM power I would go for the AMD build and take use of the cores rather then the ram.

Wow...... that's pricey.

Yep....on top of that DDR4 is coming out so they will probably be optimizing it for that if I had to guess which is going to make the motherboards and DDR4 go thru the roof....new builds on the new platforms are going to be quiet spendy. And while the margin of processing power for the RAM is increased....I will be soaking up the benefits of DDR3 prices dropping and sticking 32 gigs in my system, while people are trying to come up with enough money for 8 gigs of the new stuff....

Make sure you post it back here...also stick with a XFX or a EVGA power supply as they are tier 1 & 2 material...which will give your system a nice clean draw for the pretty electronics inside it. And also mostly defiantly get the 2x4 GB as it will put less stress on your RAM, making it perform better.
