Final confirmation suggestions please

Go to solution Solved by Sauron,

Can this build serve me well for my needs?

Yeah, the only thing you might add is a full atx board in case you want to do some crossfire on it in the future but you probably won't. In general there isn't a lot to improve other than what we said earlier, unless you plan on overclocking, in which case you need an unlocked i5 and a z97 board.

Hey guys, I'm building a new pc as my 5 years old pc has broken recently. I'm going to use this pc for some video editing ( AE, Premiere Pro and Sony Vegas Pro 12.0) and some gaming( Watch_Dogs, BF4 and some future games) After much research, I came out with this build (my budget is $700-$790). Since I'm a new builder, I would like some suggestions. Is this a solid build and how long will this pc last?

Go for 2 sticks of 4GB RAM instead of 1 8GB for better memory performance

BTW why not 1231V3? They cost pretty much the same

My current rig for entertainment/gaming: i5 4570 3,2GHz; MSI B85M-E45; ZOTAC GTX760 AMP!; 8GB (2x4GB) by Kingston; Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm; Corsair 200R, Corsair VS650; Dell U2312HM, Samsung DVD R/W optical drive; CM Devastator; Corsair MM400 gaming pad

It's fine the V3 series of Xeon are LGA1150.

I apologize for my ignorance then... I am unfamiliar with intel socket compatibilities since P4 Prescott...

I second this and add: don't skip the ssd unless you absolutely need to spare that money.

Okay, but in my country there's no 1231 v3 and does dual channel make a big difference? I do have an spare Samsung 840 Evo 120gb laying in my house though. Is that good enough or do I have to buy a newer SSD?

If you have that SSD then it will be just fine

The ssd is good enough, you don't need a new one. Dual channel makes a big difference, and I see no reason why you wouldn't want to go with it anyway. You certainly won't need more than 16gb of ram anytime soon. If you can't access the 1231 v3 then yeah, go for the 1230.

Okay then, thanks for telling me that. Do you have any more suggestions for this build? Since this is my first time building a pc, I don't really know much about parts selection. Can this build serve me well for my needs?
