Overclocking amd FX 8320

hey guys,

I build a new gaming PC with an amd FX 8320 and I was wondering how similar is overclocking an AMD cpu is too an Intel cpu?

Also what kind of overclock can i expect ( I've got a hyper 212 evo, and i was think i could hit 4.2 - 4.4 ghz) 

Last but not least what kind of overclocks have you guys hit and on what coolers

It could hit 4.2-4.4 but it all depends on the chip. 8320s are the most heavily binned AMD 8-cores. There's 8350s, 9370s and 9590s for a reason.

Overclocking 8320s and 8350s are a breeze tbh, just turn up the multiplier a bit and (possibly) the voltage too and it's should definitely work. The only issue is the thermals which I have found really hard to control. I have an 8350 with a hyper 212 EVO clocked at 4.2 and I also did a family build with an 8320 on the stock cooler and you can forget about overclocking that setup. Both run at about 70c on prime95 small fft.

You can certainly do 4.4 if you don't look to closely at the temps...
