First Time PC Build

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

There is nothing wrong with the Corsair 450D. All the above parts will fit fine. If the op likes it then I see no reason not to go with it.

Well Let's get straight to it. This is my very first custom PC build. I'm building this for gaming and I don't know if my selections are right. I'm hoping that someone can help me out. Here the parts list

Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, come with Five Fans, window side panel, top HDD dock

BitFenix Recon Fan Controller

BitFenix BFA-MSC-3F30KK-RP 11.81" (30cm) Fan Cable Extension M-F

Unless you are running high resolutions (Above 1080p) or multi monitor the 4GB on your graphics card is wasted. The 2GB will work just fine in a single monitor 1080p situation.

You do not at all need 32GB of ram for gaming AT ALL. 8 is more than enough.

asus motherboards are over priced the msi has everything you need and you don't need 32gb ram for rendering unless your doing allot of heavy workstation stuff. as for watercooling its not needed as well but if you must have it just grab a nzxt x61

You can replace H100i with Kraken X61 and that will cost $50 more.

Edit: With this you have money to spare on good case fans like Corsair SP120's and some other stuff you might like.

@whatthewhat,

Given the budget an Intel build will provide better performance, especially with video editing. I have included an NH-D15 Noctua cpu cooler to lower noise levels and a different case that looks remarkably like the Rosewill.

Presuming the 3x1TB in the OP was for a RAID array I suggest WD Red drives which are designed specifically for small RAID arrays. If the build just needs a total of 3TB storage you might consider going with a single hdd.

To improve gaming and gpu assisted editing and rendering I suggest the R9 290X.

I have changed the fans to PWM versions so that they can be controlled by the Asus motherboard.

I would urge you to use pcpartpicker.com to develop your lists. It makes it much easier to read and the site will check basic compatibility for you.

A case needs to be both effective, functional and you need to like the looks.  I would also no opt for the 450D, there are lots of better/nicer cases out there.  One item that i don't see on your build list is a CPU cooler, that would also effect what case to get.
