Problems installing Windows 7 HELP

Ginge620
Go to solution Solved by Ginge620,

Solved the problem.

The problem, couldn't boot into Windows because SATA was changed from AHCI to RAID. 2 500GB WD Black drives set up in RAID 0 on ports 3 and 4. SSD on port 1, Seagate 1TB drive on port 2.

Secure formatted OCZ SSD on another computer using OCZ toolbox.

When attempting to install Windows 7 from disk none of the drives showed up. So i couldn't install windows.

How i solved it.

On my notebook i download the RAID drivers from the Asus website. My motherboard is the Asus Cosshair IV Formula.

Because the makedisk utility didnt recognise CD's or DVD's i went through the folders and found the driver files specific to windows 7 x64 RAID.

There are 3 files which i then burned to a CD.

Now back to the PC. Got to the drive selection point and chose load driver.

Removed Windows install disk and inserted the new RAID driver CD.

Selected the CD in the install and it found the driver. Clicked next and it loaded the driver from the CD.

Now the drives showed up however i couldn't install to any of them.

Removed the driver CD in reinserted the windows install disk and clicked refresh.

The drives all showed up and are all available to install to.

Selected the SSD and installed Windows 7.

Sorted :D

So just put in 2 WD Blacks and put them in RAID 0 which meant switching from AHCI to RAID. Windows wouldnt boot so im now trying to reinstall windows as this solved the issue when i switched from IDE to AHCI.

Problem is windows installed isnt showing the drives i have.

What can i do.

Also i dont to switch my SSD to IDE mode because its really slow.

Go to Disk Management and let windows know you want to use you drives.

Drives in RAID often won't show up until you install the appropriate Windows RAID drivers. You may also need to go to Disk Management to format the RAID.

There should also be a point during the system bootup where you need to set up the RAID before getting to Windows (if you haven't already).

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.
