Deactivate Windows on Non-bootable drive?

I finished building my PC and can't activate windows on it because on another drive that turned out to be defective I was able to activate windows before I knew it wouldn't boot. Do you know any way to deactivate windows on that drive so I can activate it on the current drive in my PC?

wipe the old drive and re activate windows on the new one.
You will likely have to call in to the product activation center to get it to work though

No, not as long as you can't use the old drive, if you can, then yes, you can deactivate the old key. Best thing to do now, is activate it over the phone, and if they connect you to someone, just tell them what happened. I've had to re-install 3 times now, and I only recently learned how to deactivate. The just added on a new activation for free each time. Not guaranteed that they'll do it, but it's worth a shot, like everything else.
