BSOD:Uncorrectable Hardware Error

Go to solution Solved by SlayerOfHellWyrm,

So, I looked at the dump, and it's pinning the crash on the hal.dll

Basically, if you are OC'ing, make sure it's all standard and boot, everything should work fine. From there, if you had a successful boot, you can re-OC, and just increment it slowly making sure it remains stable. IF that doesn't work, and you haven't had any recent hardware changes, the only way to ensure you don't have more problems with that specific dll, is to re-install Windows, so it can replace it either with a not-broken version, if that's what happened, or, the correct version if an incorrect, or old version was installed.

Hey. So, I've lurked for a while, and finally have made an account...to beg for help =P

My computer will blue screen at random times (no correlation between what I am doing at all, seemingly) saying Uncorrectable Hardware Error. It has been happening for quite a while.

Sorry, I meant to add that x.X

It is overclocked to 3.36 Ghz. Do you think setting it back to factory would stop this error? I can do this by going into BIOS and setting the clock to 28, right? (stock is 2.8 Ghz)

try bringing it back to 3.2, if that doesn't work try 3.1, and keep going until it is stable.

So, I'm looking at my frequency/voltage control. It says my CPU speed is 2.80Ghz (133x21), and my CPU core non-turbo ratio is 21. Intel turbo boost is enabled. I thought I'd have to change the ratio, but it seems to be at stock already. Am I doing something wrong, or did they count Intel turbo boost as over clocking, perhaps?

Also, under over clock configuration, CPU Bclk is set to 133 min and 300 max.

If you were overclocking did you check to see what voltage you're at now? Regardless of your clock if voltage is too high you could be overheating which can cause automatic shutdown (overvoltage protection). Also what are you using for cooling?

i7-3770K @ 4.5GHz, ASRock Z77 Extreme4, G.Skill Sniper 8GB DDR3 1866 @ CL9, ASUS GTX 780, CM HAF XM, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, WD Black 1TB x 2, EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850W, BenQ XL2420TE 24" 144Hz @ 1080p, CM Nepton 280L, Noctua Industrial IP67 2000RPM 140mm PWM Fan x 6

I did check my voltage, but I'm not quite sure what it was or if it was too high. I will check now. However, I am fairly certain that my CPU is not overheating. All cores tend to stay between 40-65°C. I am using Alienware High-Performance Liquid Cooling.

So, according to to CPU-Z while running Prime95, my CPU does not seem to be overlocked besides the Intel turbo boost technology. My core speed stayed between 2.8 - 3.06 Ghz, which according to Intel's website is the max turbo frequency. Voltage stays between .9 - 1.1V, which also seems to be fine, and the highest the temperature I got was 73°C, and I don't usually go above 60% load.

In BIOS it says my CPU speed is 2.80Ghz (133x21), and my CPU core non-turbo ratio is 21,Intel turbo boost is enabled, and under over clock configuration, CPU Bclk is set to 133 min and 300 max.

So it looks like I will be re-installing windows.

Thanks for the help!
