OBS or Dxtory. OBS is free and allows you to record and stream whereas Dxtory records from DirectX with no performance loss while still recording in almost lossless quality. Also make sure you have a 2nd HDD to record to, 1TB or 2TB would be perfect.

If you have a recent and decently high end Nvidia GPU, use shadowplay. It has almost no performance hit.

If you go into manual mode in shadowplay you can go for as long as you want. I have a 50 min gameplay video of smite :)

i7 4771, 16GB, 780ti

How are you lagging? With OBS, I had a Radeon 6850, an i5 3570k and 8gb. I recorded and had no problems whatsoever.

Maybe try optimizing the settings.

I had a computer.. and then I let FedEx ship it.

I've used both on a 8320 - 770 with ZERO lag.

You shouldn't have much lag with OBS. Fraps may lag if the drive you're recording to is slow, but OBS can encode on the fly with your (rather powerful) processor.
