Why don't get him a R9 270? Personally I had lots of problems with minecraft (modded) and nvidia drivers.

really? like what, i have never had a problem.

 

also for rendering with cuda cores, you want the 760, plus the 750Ti is under powered imo

Random crashes, game not being able to open, stuff like that. Rolling back an forth between driver versions fixes it. Experienced it on a couple Nvidia cards, never with AMD  though.

EDIT: could be problem with OpenGL, cause notch was stupid and dident use DX

Older and new ones, from the GT 430 to the 760.

Every time I'm using a couple of mods Nvidia struggles with it.

Notch used OpenGL because it has compatibility, Minecraft on Linux is a big thing, I'm glad they didn't get DX for it. However Notch is also a bad programmer.
