First time computer build

Go to solution Solved by harrynowl,

Hi, welcome to the forum!

I assume you have a monitor and stuff already?

Also I think this topic would be more suitable in "new builds and planning"- but don't post it there, a mod can move this one.

Also being 'super sexy' is different to each person as what I think looks good might not be your opinion of good :P So I opted for a good looking case without it being gaudy and impractical.

If you can stretch your budget 10% this would be great:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($184.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($75.66 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($72.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($216.99 @ Newegg)
Other: Windows 8.1/7 From either G2A or /r/softwareswap (reddit) ($15.00)
Total: $766.49
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

and if not

CPU: Intel Core i3-4150 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($114.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($75.66 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($72.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($216.99 @ Newegg)
Other: Windows 8.1/7 From either G2A or /r/softwareswap (reddit) ($15.00)
Total: $696.49
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Or the 2nd option- which is probably the best option for your use scenario- especially when overclocked.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor  ($108.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($73.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($72.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 3GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($216.99 @ Newegg)
Other: Windows 8.1/7 From either G2A or /r/softwareswap (reddit) ($15.00)
Total: $718.80
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I believe if you live near a microcentre you can get bundles or so with FX8320s at $99.

Hello smart peoples. I don't know much about computers but I'm really interested in them so I have decided to build one with a $700 (with some wiggle room) budget not including M&K and monitor. What I really need help on is picking out my Graphics card, memory, and mainly the CPU. I plan on using this computer for gaming (battlefield) at decent settings, video editing + rendering, and for everyday use. If anybody could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. Also p.s. I want it to look super sexy.

Thank you

Location: Houston, Texas. MURICA!

Going to ask this to have it out of the way: Would you take better performance over looks? Budget builds and looks don't usually go well together, while keeping performance.

That's a bad build for $700 in that video

Do you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc...? If not, those things will eat into your build. How much wiggle room do you have in your $700 budget, if any?

They'll usually do it for you; they're good like that.
