Hello Community,

First of all how can I know if my computer doesn't have a DNS Virus? And second I have been using the standard DNS Server giving by my ISP, I suppose. So I have been having some issues - can't acess some sites - so I want to change to OpenDNS but is it secure to use? Is banking still safe enough when using third-party DNS Server?

Thanks in advance

A DNS Server is a Domain Name Server. Basically, it translates websites like http://linusctechtips.com into the address of the server (think of it like a phone book), which you computer than connects to.

If you use a large third-party DNS Server like Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) then you will have no issues, just avoid sketchy DNS Servers run by Russians ;)
