I sold my 4770k and bought a 4790K.  I did not update the bios from 1402 to 1505 before I sold the old cpu. When I tried to put the dust cover on waiting for the DC cpu, I installed it wrong and bent a bunch of pins on my MB.
That was a 329 dollar mistake I regret very much. We can say "Live and Learn" but I should have remembered that the dust cover went on the outside of the frame, not inside.

I ended up buying an open box Maximus VI Formula for 221 from new egg, and no matter how I try to update the bios ( take the cpu out or in ) the code is always 00.
PC fans ramp up for about 30 seconds and the colors on the corsair H100i change, but the only code I get is 00.

I called Asus and they said 00 means that the cpu is not completing the circuit.  I may have a bad MB, or just cant update the bios where the DC will accept it.

I ordered a new G1840, so when it comes, I will flashback the 1402 bios and then if the cpu does not post, I will know its the MB. IF it does post, then I can upgrade

the 1505 bios from within the bios and the DC should then work ok.

This has been very stressful as I only have 30 days to send back the mb or the cpu and I bought the CPU on the 7th and the MB on the 14th. They dont go by when you

have it in your possession, they count days shipped back and forth.

All this, just because I was unhappy with the ability of my 4770K to only OC to 4.3     If im able to get everything working, it better go to 5.0 with water cooling its a L4 batch.
