Hey guys,

My friend wants a PC for his birthday and I get to do it.

1. Budget and location

His budget is 540€ and the parts will be bought from this site.(we're in Romania if it matters)

2.Aim

Just light-medium gaming and browsing.

3.Monitors

Only 1, which he has.

4.Peripherals

All set.

5.Why the upgrade

Hes currently running a Pentium4 and half a X300.

I'm thinking to go with AMD, as this is a low budget build but I'm not sure...

Here's what I have:

CPU: i5 3470(no overclock, so stock cooler)

MOBO: thinking H77 chipset

GPU: EVGA 650 Ti Boost

PSU: Corsair CX500

HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 500GB 7200RPM 16MB cache

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB(2x4GB)

Case:

Some random CD W/R he has

TOTAL : 470€

Thanks,

Marc

get a i5 ,and a 7950 ,Z77, get a 1tb its more for the money, even a i5 2500k will be better than a i3.

and what about a ssd? that is worth it.

i5 3570 | MSI GD-65 Gaming | OCZ Vertex 60gb ssd | WD Green 1TB HDD | NZXT Phantom | TP-Link Wifi card | H100 | 5850

He doesn't need 1TB, even 500GB is too much....jammed an i5 in there and raised budget

And he won't do overclocking(the budget's too small for an aftermarket cooler) so no Z77

I would suggest a fx 4350 or 4300 with a 970 board a 7770 or 7790, cx 430w, 1tb HDD and 2x4gb kit of RAM

ya i didnt even get into amd (cpu wise) that would be a GREAT option.

I figured he wanted intel though because of his pic :)

I think this is what I'm going with:

CPU: AMD FX-6300

MOBO: MSI 970A-G46

RAM: Kingston HyperX blu 8GB(2x4GB)

GPU: XFX HD7770

PSU: Corsair CX430W

HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 500GB

Case: ?

TOTAL: 419€

Maybe I can squeeze and SSD in there too. Final Budget is 500€.

Waste of money for a z77 board. A decent b75 will do fine.

320gb is too small--500gb minimum.

840 series is better and cheaper than the 830.

Better off getting 8gb ram over 6 for about $3 more.

Also, op has a specific site to order from which has a smaller selection of parts.

The only thing I'd change is the 7770 to a 7850. The cx430 will be fine for that. If the 7850 is not needed because the gaming is incredibly light, then the ssd would be the better option.

I agree with wooden, if you have extra money then don't go a SSD route, take that money and upgrade to a better gpu. I also suggest a NZXT source 210 for the case. It is super cheap and actually a really good case.

No NZXT source 210 on computeruniverse.net

I just navigated a romanian site and I speak not a letter of romanian lol But I got these two for you

Cheaper one: http://www.computeruniverse.net/products/90494653/cooler-master-k280.asp

Is a decent case and looks decent.

More expensive: http://www.computeruniverse.net/products/90468061/antec-one-gaming-case-schwarz.asp

Is what I would grab, Antec's build quality is famous. And I like the look more personally.

Threw the Sapphire Radeon HD7850 1GB OC-edition in there

If you can afford it grab this instead.

Edit* the MSI one is also a good choice for a little cheaper.
