I bought this with an i3 for a small build for my girl, bit in the future could I put a 'K' cpu in it and overclock at all?

only Z series board will allow OC

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I have the same board in another system myself.

 

Asrock has a non-Z overclock feature on B85 and H81 motherboards. It lets you overclock "K" parts on boards that aren't Z-series. Not by much though, you could probably get like 4.0-4.2GHz with an i5 4690K with the B85M-ITX. It only has a 4-pin power connector and a 3-phase power design if I remember correctly, boards with better power delivery will allow you to overclock higher.

yea

 

any non k will work

 

haswell refresh may need a BIOS update to work on the B85

Yes. For Haswell refresh chips it will require a BIOS update though.
