HDD problems....

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

did you enable fast boot in the BIOS?

go to use BIOS to enable it and set your HDD to be the first boot drive

so I am correct to say you re install the OS into the WD Green drive.

WD Green are more of a storage drive

WD Blue are general use HDD

Well it all started when I had a HDD fail and I replaced it with a WD green 2Tb. Then I installed windows and then when I restart it took 5 mins to boot and then wen i got to the desktop it was insanely unresponsive and laggy. So then I chnged the sata port it was in and it booted in 2-3 min but still laggy in the os. So I think its a bad drive or bad drivers.

Hi jswag180, sorry to hear about that.

Can I know are you starting up your computer from a warm boot or a cool boot? Allow me to explain that, if a program or a software failure locks up your computer, restart from the menu (warm boot) may not be sufficient to set things right again, because memory is not cleared. However, a cold boot removes power and clears memory, and all current settings are reset.

I will suggest you start up your computer with a clean boot. You can click on below link, you may follow the steps given to perform a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 . If the speed is fast when you are booting with clean mode, that means there are some element that you downloaded or installed has caused the booting slow down or lag.

Besides that, if you wish to check your internal hard disk drive status, I will suggest you to run a Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. Here's the link for you to download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows in case you need it: http://support.wd.com/product/download.asp?groupid=608&sid=3〈=en .

Hope this helps!
