So I have this PC, that I use as a guest gaming PC and I am looking to upgrade it slightly.

Would like to get a cheap processor, can be dual core or quad core, and motherboard that supports crossfire and can fit into a mid tower. I already have a HD 4870 1gb and I would like to crossfire it with another.

Current specs are;

Intel Pentium E5500

Fujitsu custom motherboard

2gb DDR3 RAM

Price range ~ £100 about $170

Gaming PC: Case: NZXT Phantom 820 Black | PSU: XFX 750w PRO Black Edition 80Plus Gold (Platinum) | CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K | CPU Cooler: BE QUIET! Dark Rock Pro 2 | MB: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark S | RAM: 24GB Kingston HyperX and Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz | GPU: MSI R9 280X 3G | SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB | HDD: 9TB Total | Keyboard: K70 RGB Brown | Mouse: R.A.T MMO7

Laptop: HP Envy 15-j151sa | 1920x1080 60HZ LED | APU: AMD A10-5750M 2.5GHZ - 3.5GHZ | 8GB DDR3 1600mhz | GPU: AMD  HD 8650G + 8750M Dual Graphics | 1TB SSHD

note you need to check what CPU the mobo supports

buying a LGA775 CPU without checking will be a big mistake when you find that sucky mobo cannot boot with the new CPU you bought

get this

Motherboard: Asus H81M-E Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£36.50 @ Ebuyer)
Total: £78.49
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Any motherboard that supports crossfire?

hmm that will drive up the cost by a lot

i will only say it is safer to get this

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97mgaming

it SLi ready and CrossFire ready

better to pick a board with full PCI-E x16 lanes which can be split to x8 speeds than get one which does x16 and x4
