  1. There is probably an option in the bios itself most likely on the last page.

One of the other options would be to remove the bios battery for a couple of minutes (the big round silver thing right under the first pcie x16 slot)

Also there should be something in your mainboard manual about "resetting cmos".

I haven't really done any real benchmarking as of yet but at least Windows tells me Hard Drive Performance is now an 8.5 from an 8.3 when I just had one 840 Pro, so I guess there's that. I also haven't even installed the Intel RST program yet, do I still need that ?

For the aformentioned cache settings & acceleration probably yes. Also there could be problems with the "trim" command and garbage collection without the drivers. But i honestly can't tell you if you should or shouldn't do it.
