Hey guys on Monday i am getting an hdd and maybe an ssd. Is it worth it though to get the ssd and a wd blue instead of no ssd with wd black. Now before you say it is because the speeds of an ssd is still much faster, keep in mind that i am on sata 2. So is it still worth it to get an ssd as a strictly os drive on sata 2. Thanks for the help.

People say it's not worth it but they're forgetting it's still many times faster than a hard drive. My dad's PC has sata 2 and the crappy Kingston V300 (don't buy it) and the speed is still infinitely better than hard drives.

It'll still be much faster than a HDD even on Sata II so I say go for it.

Ok thank you. One more question if you don't mind. I have been reading about the Kingston v300 and how they are using worse internal parts and it is effecting the speeds. However since i am on sata 2 and cant use the full potential should i save the $15 between that and the crucial m500. Or would the m500 be much safer of a buy.

Thats one of the ssd i was looking at, why is it so bad, would the crucial m500 be much better even for $15 more.

There's a lot of websites explaining it and it would probably just be easier for you to look up why.

Hell, even Linus said he didn't recommend it anymore after they changed it (in one of his build guides)

if you can afford it, it's the newer version of the m500

Ok, i read that they were using cheaper internal parts that were effecting the speeds, but since i was on sata 2 it might not actually effect me. Thanks for the help.
