Looking for Gaming Laptop

adnank77

Subject is clear .. I go everyday to a nearby coffee shop .. stay there around 1-2 hours .. I need a laptop that I can game on casually .. but high end titles (e.g. Titanfall) ..

My primary option is the new Razer Blade 14 Inch (nVidia 870) .. Linus has a very promising review about it .. only two drawbacks:

- Resolution is very high .. at this figure, gaming native resolution won't be possible with all goodies turned on

- Price is a little on the high side.

Another Option is ASUS ROG G550JK .. The drawback in this one is lower graphics (nVidia 850) and bigger size (I prefer the 14")

Did I miss any alternative ? Are there gaming laptops out there with 14" screens and reasonable price ?

You could always try MSI's gaming laptops. Not always the flashiest but usually good bang for buck.

Does it have to be 14", or is 15" fine as well?

Are you you definitely looking for something thin like the Razer Blade?

What's your budget?

There's probably a few other questions I could ask, but either way, I think you should list more requirements about what you're looking for. ;)

- 15" is fine, but I prefer the 14" size

- Again, thin is preferred, but little thicker is OK as far as battery life is OK when not gaming (for gaming, I will use power always).

- Razer is the maximum budget, cheaper is preferred .. but if not available, it's still OK ..

Requirements:

- Good battery life when not gaming (like 4 hours +)

- nVidia 8xx Generation of Graphics .. Not 7xx for sure as these things get outdated in no time and laptop is not a short-term investment.

- HD resolution is OK .. higher is no issue as far as graphics card can handle gaming on it.

- No optical drive is preferred as it wastes size and power.

- 4th Gen Intel Ci7, 8+ GB RAM ..

Gotcha. Well the Aorus X3 that was suggested is probably your best bet because it at least comes in the size you want. Still, after a quick Google search, I'm not totally sure if the version you'd want with the 870M is released yet.

If you were willing to go to a 15" laptop but still wanted thin/IPS screen, there's the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro or the Gigabyte P35W v2-CF1. Both have the 870M, and I'd say the only major difference hardware-wise is that the Gigabyte has an extra hard drive bay over the MSI for upgrading your storage if you want. However, the Gigabyte isn't out yet, so there's only pre-orders atm.
