Hello,

I've been streaming a bit with OBS on twitch.tv and I've noticed my computer becomes a bit less responsive while gaming but also a frame rate loss:
The minimum framerate would be of 52 FPS when I'm not streaming, while streaming it goes down to 40 FPS.

Although most of the times it is still at 60 FPS, in LoL the slowdown does make a difference in my gaming performance.

I'm streaming League of Legends which doesn't require a lot of resources.

The PC I'm using now is this:

  • CPU
    Intel Core i5-4670k
  • Motherboard
    Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
  • RAM
    2x GEIL Evo Potenza 4GB DDR3 1866mhz CL9
  • GPU
MSI R6850 OC (Planning to upgrade to a Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X)
  • Case
    Enermax Fulmo ST
  • Storage
    GEIL Zenith S3 Series 240GB
  • PSU
Sleeved and shrouded Cooler Master V700
  • Cooling
    Enermax LIQTECH 240
  • Keyboard
    Sentey Gho5t
  • Mouse
    Sentey Nebulus
Settings are these:

Is there anything I can do to improve the in game framerate while streaming?
Does the GPU actually make any difference while streaming?

Thank you in advance for then help

I have used all the different encoders like the x264, Nvidia Nvec (it's horrible), but if your cpu supports HD grapics (intel) then you can use the quick sync because that is redundant if you use a GPU, Although it's quite the bitch so set up (Linus has a video on using quick sync for OBS) but I would recommend just leaving it to x264. You could also try lowering your Bitrate for the encoder usually 1600 is good enough.

Or just dedicating a core to just OBS and recording software. Also don't use OBS' gamecapture it's horrible to FPS performance use DXtory. If you want I can give you a cracked version that's clean
