NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL WONT SAVE!

I have a dell xps 502x

i7 2630qm

NVIDIA 540M 

 

when i try and change the 3D settings to use the dedicated gpu when i click save it never actually saves. 

 

I have the driver install and have tried reinstalling and restarting Downloading another driver is not a option as i am in a field .

I know this might seem silly of me to ask after you've tried so many things, but are you clicking 'Apply' in the bottom right of the Nvidia control panel after making changes?

Sometimes when you open an application or game in fullscreen mode, it will override the Nvidia Settings, this was happening to me with warframe.

 

To avoid this open the game in something like "Fullscreen (windowed)" or "Windowed (borderless)" mode and it will keep the Nvidia control panel settings
