The AD700 are really good at positional accuracy too. Don't expect any bass though.

Not really sure what that has to do with your claim that sound cards seem to be the only way to go for good positional audio.

Have you been reading my posts? I didn't say it was hardware, I said that Creative makes a really good surround sound software engine that only runs on their cards. Are you just trolling me at this point?
