4k vs 1440p Widescreen

Soooo what do you prefer guys? I prefer 1440p widescreen. Or if possible a 4k Widescreen.

I hate 21:9 as it is so wide you need to move your eyes to see the other part of the screen and almost no content is made for 21:9 so youtube is gonna have pillar boxing

When you say 1440p widescreen, do you mean the 21:9 aspect ratio, or 16:9? They're both technically widescreen, but 16:9 is just the industry standard.

Ahh, ultra-widescreen. That gets my vote as 3840*2160 is roughly 1.67 times the pixel count of 3440*1440, thus being that much harder to run. Also, operating systems can't really scale 4K very well (even on the desktop things either look this small or are incredibly blurry, or both.) I don't know if that's as much of an issue with ultra wide 1440, but it's something to keep in mind at least.

I haven't seen any consumer UWS UHD monitors yet but the idea of it is VERY appealing

4K Is going to get cheaper and the panels will get better, So I'd say hold off on that one.

I'd go for the UWS 1440p screen. Just because you will likely get a good IPS panel and the benefit of the better windows snapping feature!

4k 16:9, I'm not sold on 21:9 monitors and I'll never be, mostly because of scaling, which considering movies are considered a selling point for these monitors, is a huge deal.
