Hi,

The system worked well for 1 month after that it started giving me unexpected restarts.
I am facing some unexpected restarts and there is no specific time frame for it.
Some times restarts are in 10 mins, 2 hrs, 2 days and there are not specific logs in the Event Viewer for the same.

Only getting the Kernel Power error which it logs after unexpected restarts.
Not getting any BSOD.

There are minor voltage fluctuations but on the same grid my other system works well without restarting.
Have a UPS in uninterrupted mode 1500 VA.

I have a new build about 3 months old, below are the specs for the same.

Operating System : Windows 8.1 Pro
Processor : i7 4770K
Motherboard : Asus z87 Pro
PSU : Corsair RM750
RAM : 2 x 8 (16 Gb) Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
Cpu Cooler : Corsair H100i
Boot Drive : Samsung EVO 840 (250 Gb)
On board Raid 1 (2 Tb) : 2 Tb WD Red (2 drives)
Cabinet : CM Stryker

Below are the trouble shooting steps i have tried.
1) Updated the bios to latest  version i.e 2005
2) Clean installed the OS.
3) Disable the Anti Surge Protection in the bios
4) Had overclocked it for the first time using Asus AI suite 3 but later after clean install kept everything on stock.
5) Have disabled the windows fast boot from power options
6) Done Memtest86 which result was without problems on the memory.
7) Checked the hard-drives using chkdsk /f /r
8) Had one front panel usb issue which i have disconnected from the Mother board.

Still confused what the issue can be. bcoz there is no way or log to exactly find where the issue is.

My doubts are a bit on PSU or the motherboard. But wanted to get some suggestions from Experts like you.

See lots of linustech videos on youtube regarding reviews and unboxing of various products.

Thanks and Regards,

Zahid Alware.

Your problem sounds quite similar to an issue my gf had with her PC about a year ago.

Random restarts with no error logs or messages - and with no pattern to when it would occur.

It was the PSU that had some defects, and when i pulled it out of her cabinet i was able to smell that distinct smell of hot plastic and electronics.

Standing on the floor beneath the table, we didn't notice the smell.

So my guess would be something similar - if able try to replace the psu for a while and see if the problem persists.

it seem that the Corsair RM series PSU are know to fail without warning

it because of the poor quality caps and components they use to make the circuits

go for other brand like Seasonic or EVGA

you can check JonnyGuru for PSU reviews

Hi zahidalware, the issue seems to be similar of what I went through with my previous machine in which I ended up building a brand new PC. Somehow rather trying all necessary checking would certainly help out in this type of situations. I found some useful steps which I would like to pass it over to you at the below page.

Do have a look and see if it helps.

Cheers mate.
