What about SSHD ?

Go to solution Solved by rustikles,

SSHDs are just an unnecessary compromise IMO. If there is any feasible way to put a full sized SSD into your build, please do. You'll thank yourself later. An SSD is just about the single most noticeable improvement you can make to a machine working day to day.

I'm building my first computer and everyone reccomends using a SSD and a HDD. SSD for programs and OS, HDD for films etc...

But what about SSHDs ? Hybrids, the best of both worlds (just about)

What do you reccomend ? Are they any good ?

Jack

How do you people know what to put here ?

I use a 1TB SSHD for my OS and programs, and windows won't enable intel smartboost or whatever its called (using an SSD to speed up performance) because it says it's not needed with my current configuration.

Unless you can afford a 512GB+ SSD I would recommend an SSHD.

I had a 256GB SSD that filled up SO quickly with my software suites and steam games. It's now used as a storage drive for work files.

I always guarantee that no more than 50% of what I say is useful.

Personally, i'd avoid getting an SSHD. I use a 128 GB SSD as a boot drive and a 1 TB HDD for storage uses. I'm satisfied with it, and the lack of space in the SSD is easily covered by the HDD.

Programs you don't use very often you can just install in the hard drive, and more important things on the ssd.
