GTA IV key invalid error!

Hey guys! So, I just thought of redeeming my GTA IV key on steam, but it isn't! I get an error that the key is invalid! I bought the game from a website. And, then I tried to redeem the key on steam....

 

What should I do? Right now, I'm just installing it through the Disc, but I want it on steam!

I didn't buy the key. I got the disc from Flipkart.

If you bought a disk, chances are you have a CD Key, not a steam key.

If you bought a disk, chances are you have a CD Key, not a steam key.

Even though it's of the form XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX?

That's the format that almost all keys use, not just STEAM.

Btw, Not everyone key you buys works on steam. If you for example buy a Mario key do you think steam will accept it and add it to your game-list?. No. A few games like GTA IV you must buy it on steam in order to get it in your game-list. But games like the newest cod series you can buy from anywhere and you still can add it to steam. Because it requie steam to play multiplayer.

 

GTA IV don't need steam to work with online. It can use rockstars multiplayer engine (something like that).
