Okay, I need some help here.

I got mad and hit my laptop (yes, that was extremely stupid done my by me...), the pc restarted it self and now I have an error message on my screen what says

"Boot device not found.

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard disk - (3f0)

F2 system diagnostics

For more info, please visit: www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup"

So I cheeked the hp-site but didn't really get any help.

I've tried to restart the pc simply by holding the power button. Then it started the HDD started to make noises, a beeping sound.

So my question is, what should I do? Are the HDD dead? If it is dead, is it possible to get out the files what was stored in it?

I'm a complete noob when it comes to this things so would like some help.

Thanks!

I would get it checked out by HP tech support. It sounds like either the drive is dead or it was disconnected from the internal SATA port.

Before doing so, I would open up the back of the laptop where the HDD sits, and re-seat the drive (pull it out carefully and put it back in, making sure the drive is fully connected). If the PC will boot up after that, then you probably just disconnected the drive.

Active hard drives are much more susceptible to damage; I'm inclined to think it's a dead drive, but I could be wrong.

If it really is dead, you can try a recovery service. However, they are very expensive. I'd get a couple of quotes on price, then decide if your data is worth it. If you have a backup, then I would restore from that backup.

If you don't have a backup solution, then I would get one for the future.
