My 7970 DD overheats, but not enough to warrent an RMA (It runs at 90 degrees under load and doesn't perform very well) How long will a 7970 running at %100 load hitting 97 degrees 24/7 run for? Also when it dies will they be able to tell that I broke it intentionally by running furmark and manually setting the fan profile to %20?

So you're D is overheating? That's very common among the male population, no worries.

Does it state in your warranty that you cannot change the thermal compound yourself?

If I dmg the card while doing it it will void the warranty, and with my skill I will lose a screw, apply the paste wrong or scratch something with the screw driver. Not going to change the compound myself. The issue is one fan spins at a low RPM and the other barely spins. The 2 fans cost $50 each so it is cheaper and easier just to RMA it.

When did you buy it? Would you be able to return it and get a different card? If not, I'd just RMA it again instead of trying to damage it and it still be covered in a warranty. Make sure you get someone on the phone, like a manager or someone higher up and specifically tell them your issue and you want it fixed.

They said they can't help unless the actual core dies...
