The thing is with this though you wont really get a feel on what typing on mechanical switches is like if you know what i mean. As you are only pressing 1 switch not composing sentences like you would typing. If you can go to a computer shop and try out an actual keyboard.

Totally agree.  The one thing you can get a real feel for though is the noise level, assuming you're buying a WASD board.

I would recommend you to go to your retail technology stores and see if they have mechanical keyboards on display so you can test them and to see which one is the best by typing on them.

Yeah, it does kinda suck. Here in the UK, you can only find blacks in shops D:

The noise level is pretty much the same, regardless of keyboard. Tis the switch that matters.

I'll be testing out this sampler kit. Once I sort of touchy feely around the different switches, I'll take a look in Microcenter and go from there, I just want to familiarize myself with mechanical switches first :)

The best way to predict the future is to invent it

I found a steelseries mechanical keyboard in a PC World/Currys. Are there any near you in London?

Yep there are plenty of Currys/PCWorld stores, however none of them display mechanical keyboards, which store did you find them in? I can take the tube if it's very far..

I own a SteelSeries 6GV2, bought from PC World late last year. It was the first mechanical keyboard I tried, they had this and a Corsair K90, I love my keyboard. Blacks are so nice to type on if you are a bit heavy handed like me.

which pc world mate, i might have a look in the shop floor
