Hey everyone! Building my first gaming PC and I was just wondering if you could help me out with this tentative build.

Follow this link and let me know!

Also, this isn't just for gaming. I edit photos and videos too if that changes anything.

For video editing I use Adobe After Effects CS5 in order to make the video effects.

850w is too much. i suggest getting a better GPU. also, 8gb is enough for gaming.

Thank you! As I've said its my first time building and I'm going off of what my friends suggested and video reviews off of youtube. Definately going to change the power supply. What do you think would be good with this build?

What kind photo/video editing you do? do you render special effects heavy effects etc? or just some transitions/intros and others?

they are almost the same. 2600k has hyper threading and from the last gen. overclocks better. it helps with rendering because of the virtual cores.

So I should go with an i5 then because it is cheaper?

your choice. but the i5 will be sufficient you can wait next month for next gen processors and see what they have to offer.

Okay, I'm going with the build you suggested. I'll wait to get the processor last to see what the next gen has to offer. Thanks for the help!

will you be overclocking? if not the you could go for a non k cpu and get a cheaper cooler or go with stock.

Probably not since I dont know how to. I'm still doing some research on it. But is overclocking risky for me since I am new to this?

I am not to say it is risky cuz i haven't done it myself. but if you are confident enough and can follow instructions properly then go. after all, there's a first time for everything. there are many guides online and I'm sure the LTT communitiy will be happy to help

For now I wont overclock because I want to have something built first and then later I will go into more detail with what I really want to do with it once I understand everything better.

how long is this "for now" ? i mean, the k in the 3570k is for unlocked core. it means you can overclock and is meant to be imo. you chould research and think about it, otherwise you could get a non k cpu and be happy  :D

Eh what the hay. I'll overclock it! haha But do I need other special parts to overclock? Or do you overclock once the computer is finished?

well you will need a good cooler. the H100i in the build that i gave will be enough. it is one of the best cooling solutions out there. you overclock when after you have built your computer and make sure everything is working  and stable. you can look for guides around the internet for a specific cpu/mobo. or just simply ask here. read alot to inform yourself, if you need a guide building a computer, check out this awesome guide by the man, Linus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roFb3TNePIg
