För knappt ett år sedan introducerades den första versionen av Nvidias handhållna spelkonsol
Shield i Nordamerika. Sedan dess har Nvidia lagt en hel del krut på att utveckla nya finesser, bland annat för strömmande PC-spel. Trots detta har det ännu inte varit tal om någon lansering i Sverige och Europa. Det blir det däremot ändring på framåt höstkanten.

About a year ago, the first version of Nvidias hand-held game console was released in North America. Since then, Nvidia have been adding new features, such as the game-stream feature. Even thought all of this, there has been no release in Sweden nor Europe. That will be changed at the end of the summer.

Shield 2. Enligt specifikationer som bland noterats på prestandatestet Antutu handlar det om systemkretsen Tegra K1 med fyra kärnor och Kepler-grafik. Detta kombineras med 4 GB primärminne, 16 GB lagring, en lågupplöst kamera samt Android 4.4.2 "Kitkat".
Tack vare operativsystemet Android finns redan ett enormt spelbibliotek, men Nvidia fokuserar inte på de vanliga mobilspelen. Istället är det möjligheten att trådlöst strömma fullfjädrade PC-spel från en Geforce-utrustad speldator som står i blickfånget. Det gäller inte enbart i det lokala nätverket utan även över internet.
En annan omtalad finess är att Shield kan förvandlas till en konsol för vardagsrummet och strömma spel från en fjärransluten speldator i 1 920 x 1 080 pixlar och 60 Hz till en HDMI-ansluten tv-apparat. För detta går det även att ansluta mus och tangentbord eller handkontroll via Bluetooth. I dagsläget finns stöd för över 100 speltitlar.
Lanseringen äger rum någon gång i augusti.

The device will be released sometime in August.
