Just bought my first mechanical keyboard and I'm very impressed. However, the Quickfire TK's F12 key does not light up with a blue backlight like all of the other keys. I have tried changing the keyboard mode but nothing changes this except actually pressing the F12 key. However, this disables the Windows buttons, so is there any way to make the F12 key backlit without disabling the windows keys? Maybe someone who owns the same keyboard could provide some help. Thanks!

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

wouldn't bet on it.

is this really that much of an issue?

You bought a 90 precent working keyboard or 100 precent ? I don't get your question.

Unfortunately it is like this per design. The LEDs for the arrow keys, FN key and F12 keys are set to toggle on/off to provide a clear visual indicator if the toggle-able functions are enabled or disabled for these keys.

Personally I don't mind it, although I do find it feels like an not entirely thought through design as it does this alongside the classic 3 light indicators in the top-right for caps lock, num luck and scroll lock. Thus I would have preferred them either add 2 more light indicators for the FN luck and Windows key lock buttons and allow these keys to have a consistent backlighting regardless of setting (arrow keys I like what it does though, toggling them on/off is something I like did the clearer indication)... or the other way around; Remove the traditional light indicators and integrate these into the respective keys (I.e. expand the behavior of the FN and F12 key to the caps lock, num lock and scroll lock keys).

Either way around I feel that would make for slightly more consistent backlight performance/behavior. It ain't a big deal personally, but I can see why you don't like it.

Dang, didn't really thought about it, but yeah, just noted it.....but it doesn't bother me at all. Heck, even if in total darkness, I'd know the unlit key between the Windows and CTRL keys is the Fn key, and that the key after F11 is F12 (though unlit).

LMFAO

did you just say half the functionality of a keyboard is whether or not the F12 key is lit up?

so I could sell you my TK with only the F12 key attached and lit up and you would pay me 50% of the cost?

LOL

EDIT:

I actually like blue-rare steak....so yes, I would actually live that steak just fine lol

nice try

This is a silly question but will turning off the backlight be "better" for the keyboard and prolong its lifespan? I leave my computer on all the time so having the backlight on 24/7 might not be good for the keyboard

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I assume you didn't get my point. I also assume you're a kid. My point was, that if the F12 key needs to light up and it doesn't, that keyboard is defective.. all he gotta do is return it to the store, get a new one and work it out again.

If you buy a motherboard, and all of the sudden 1 or 2 of the USB 3.0's doesn't work... what would you do? Say "OK, IMA' LIVE WITH IT" .. or "Sh*t! Lemme replace that in the store, THAT'S not what I paid for!" ... If you can't think about it, you might consult God.

you're not old enough to have read what 'defective' means yet i guess...

defective means something was MADE to work in a certain way and doesn't.

you're ASSUMING that the f12 key was made to light up without its winlock function being enabled.  I think it's fair to say this is not true since every TK blue does this ;)

Well I doubt it does anything apart from wear down the LEDs. Don't quote me on that though.

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

Sorry I just "quoted" you haha :) will the LEDs die after a while or am I safe if I turn them on whenever I use my computer? My motherboard has an LED that is always on even when the system is on, and it has stayed lit for over 2 years

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
