Are XFX cards any good in terms of temps and noise, How good is the company in terms of its customer support and warranties. I'm only asking as I'm considering getting the XFX Double Dissipation R9 280X.

They used to be really good, but lately seems like they are doing things not like they used to do specially when it comes down to customer service. I have read so many complaints.

The last XFX that I bought was an XFX 7770 for a customer last year for a budget rig, he never had any kind of issues so far.

DON'T BUY XFX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY NOT TO BUY XFX

Post 1: 3 cards that either ran at 95< degrees or ran cool and artifact for no apparent reason. The RMA was fine, I just didn't like paying $50 shipping 3 times and soon to be a fourth... I don't trust a company that screws up 4 times in a row with the same customer.

Post 2: Their DD coolers are hot and loud from the reviews, not just personal experience. For the most part (With the exception of one fine gentleman names Krell, he was awesome) all they seem to care about is closing the ticket and getting me to return it. Not helping me solve what is wrong with the card I already sent 2 back for. The responses were slow for the most part again with the exception of Krell who sometimes got back to me in minutes. The RMA was really long (A month and a half) and I had to pay for shipping both ways which is weird usually you only pay one way. Overall I found it really disappointing and even if I am unlucky the shoddy customer service (Again, besides Krell) applies to everyone who buys XFX.

Post 3: Oh found my ticket. Here is a quote.

Me "Okay so I have RMA twice before with you guys and I really don't want to again. My 7970 is running at over 95 degrees under full load. Is there anything I can do to fix this?"

XFX Employee 2 days later  "Well, we can RMA it for you"

Me "Well I would really like to avoid that since it is $50 shipping every time I do and it takes over a month so I would like to resolve the issue with THIS card. Do you have any suggestions?"

XFX 2 days later "You could change the thermal paste but we don't recommend it as you could damage the card. It would be better to just RMA it"

Me "How would I go about doing this?"

XFX 3 days later "The ticket will now close. Please create a new ticket if you have any further questions"

Wow a week and all they said was RMA IT RMA IT WE WON'T ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS NOW SHUT UP

I owned a XFX HD 5850 before I swapped it out for a HD 7970 (had a Saphhire 5850 + XFX 5850 in CrossfireX). I never had issues with it -- loved it. It ran cool, and guess what, was able to control the voltage with Sapphire TriXX!!

Quite a bit of reviews showed their new "Ghost" cooling technology doesn't perform so great.

Personally, Sapphire Technologies is my preference. I've used them since....before the "HD Radeon" days (can you say 9600XT ??), and they haven't disappointed me yet.

Trixx allowed me to up the voltage of my 6870 by 50mV. Really? My HIS 6870 allowed wayyyy more voltage tweaking. I tried flashing different BIOS softwares onto my XFX but although it would set the voltage to the BIOS in which I flashed it to (higher or lower depending on the BIOS) it still wouldn't allow me to increase it.

I also know somebody with an XFX 7750 Ghost and it it's true the cooling sucks. However it is only a single slot 7750 so I'm not gonna complain too much.

I've contacted XFX support 2 times with questions and got thorough and knowledgeable responses either same day or next day. This is much better than MSI tech support which is run by monkeys that have 0 knowledge of the product, the English language, and grammar.

I've also heard that when RMA'ing a refernce card, they typically upgrade you to a DD model! Pretty nice of them imho. Confirmation of this by a gentlemen yesterday http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2389360

Guess they are just VERY hit and miss in terms of customer support...

After MSI sent me this I just about lost it... There isn't one thing right about this RMA response. Apparently the "tech" thinks PCIe 2.0 can be saturated by an R7 260x equivalent... lol
