Major loss in FPS

A day or so ago, i noticed that i had a sudden loss in fps in all games i play. Even the games that didn't require a good graphics card. I'm running a radeon r9 290, and i used to get like 100 + fps on counter strike global offensive, but now i have to lower all my settings to the worst, and i still only reach like 30-40. Is it due to adware?

Did you try to reinstall drivers?

Have you updated your drivers and if not do a clean install and see if that helped. Have you installed a random program if so unistall that. scan for virus and so on. replay and tell me if that helped. good luck

If it says Latest AMD Catalyst™ Drivers for Radeon™ R9 200, R7 200, HD 7000, HD 6000 and HD 5000 Series <- By the download drivers section, and im running r9 290 , Does it apply to me? and is that the one i should download,

Get GPU-Z, look at the sensors tab, if the GPU load is 99% when you are not gaming, then you managed to get yourself a mining virus, you're basically burning electricity for someone else's profit then...

Sounds like the card is being massively throttled during game play. What brand of 290 is it and does your case have enough airflow for the 290? Is your case a rats' nest of cables or do you have proper cable management?

I dont have to worry about the cable management, as this is a prebuilt computer. I think there is enough airflow...... If you are interested in the specs here ya go

Heck I let the store build my pc, redid the thermal paste for a 20C benefit...

have you checked to see how hard your CPU is running maybe its that and is your GPU overheating use MSI afterburner to have a look
