It will be difficult to learn 'Java for Android'. My advice is learn to program in Java and then learn how to implement that to Android Development. From my small amount of experience with Android development, it is rather different. Also learning Java in the sense of general programming will help you understand various concepts and ways of thinking that will then aid your Android development.

thenewboston is a great place to start; if you want reading materials, I have plenty. Also check out the thread in my signature.

Also XDA Developers is THE website for Android development. http://www.xda-developers.com/

Good luck

Have you tried https://developer.android.com/training/index.html? It is the official place to learn how to make apps for Android.

If you are not comfortable with Java I would start with that instead of going straight to Android (for instance in http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/index.html).
