"latest" is a wide concept. For example if you mean the last geforce gpu that came out you're getting a 730...

"best" is also a wide concept. Best for the money? Best in terms of performance? Consumer grade or extreme?

If you want an answer, give us precise products with the exact serial number. Also you can ask pcpartpicker.com and spare time.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I would build a rig with a decent Z97 board, 8GB 2133Mhz RAM, i7 4790K with a GTX 780 6GB or 780Ti 3GB in a 450D/H440 with a 512GB SSD and a 3 or 4 TB HDD.

Replace the stock fans withsome AF/SP's with colorscheme matching rings, maybe a custom loop or a closed loop by Swiftech or Corsair.

And a single 1440p 27" IPS panel and a 24" 144Hz TN one ( Or ROG Swift ).

And add a second same exact GPU later on if I needed one.

With a RGB K95 and a M95.

Again, we want the exact model for everything. Even if it's easy to know which the fastest cpu possible is, it's not the same for every component. @Paralectic 's suggestion is a good one, I'd get that.

I mean how much will all of that cost in like 3 years for the latest and best components lets say gtx 980 or i7 5790k

Oh FUTURE components, I hadn't caught that. Sorry, it's impossible to know. The i7 will probably remain in the same price range but gpu prices are absolutely wild.

@Ac2000,

  • ~£1,500 - decent
  • ~£2,000 - nice
  • ~£2,500 - very nice
  • > ~£3,500 - lots of bling

Buy it today, tomorrow, next month, next year, or five years from now. The amount will be roughly the same. What will be different are the components that are considered necessary for contemporary games.

Not worth saving that much. You will be able to have a really good gaming experience in the 1,500 - 2,000 range.
