Upgrading to Windows 8.1

Go to solution Solved by Rashy,

Back it up>Reformat>Install win8>Install from store>recover backed up files

Hi!

So, yesterday I tried upgrading my PC to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8. First I tried using a 8.1 ISO and using my Windows 8 key, but that didn't work. So then I tried getting the update from the store and it worked. There's one problem though, I planned on doing a clean install but when you download the update from the store it keeps everything. Do you know if there is any way to do a clean install from the store?

Thanks!

i'm a potato

Microsoft in it's infinite wisdom decided that an 8 key cannot activate an 8.1 install even though it's basically just a service pack.

Therefore you can only clean install 8 then upgrade to 8.1 through the store, there is no way to clean install it direct, so all you can do is what Rashy said.
