I have a few files of high-quality video (mkv) that I was looking to play back through my home theatre. I used to stream a lot from my PC to xbox and ps3, but have found it a lot more reliable to just copy videos onto an SD card and play it back from that.

I downloaded a TV show, with episodes around 20-25 mins and around 1.2GB in size. I suspect they might be 4K or at least a lot higher than 1080p. These files have dual audio and subtitles - but my TV hasnt had any troubles with that before.

Whenever I try to play them from my SD card audio and video go out of sync, frame rate drops terribly and it's just downright unplayable. I've tried playing them from an external HDD onto my computer, but that doesnt seem to work either. The only way to watch them is to play directly from the internal HDD in my computer. (I am bottlenecked using USB 2.0)

The SD cards I'm running are 30MB/s and although still unplayable I've noticed a huge difference in play quality from 15MB/s cards. I'm thinking it's just a bitrate issue? In any case, I've ordered higher speed cards online which should be due any day now.

Thanks,

Why not just downsample the video quality with handbrake or something?
