Applications freezes upon typing

Go to solution Solved by Simon Sniffcock,

*update* I have finally figured out the problem :3 I forgot to check device manager -.- One of the Host Controllers was not functioning properly, i just had to reinstall it then restart my computer.ywbFq80.png

So ever since couple hours ago, my laptop has been screwing up badly. At first when I launch up chrome, it freezes instantly when i type a letter (any letters or symbols on the keyboard). I thought it was just a chrome bug, but a reinstall later and delete all settings it still persists. Then i tried internet explorer, same thing. Even when i type a letter into the steam's search bar it freezes. Pretty sure ive caught a virus from some where but i did various scans nothing comes up. Sometimes my disk usage in task manager would stay around 90%+ even though it says the highest usage is only around 0.3. You maybe wondering how im typing this, well im in safe mode :/ I dont know whats causing the problem but the weird thing is not every program freezes when i type. For example, windows store, calculator, microsoft office and other apps off the windows store. I am running windows 8.1 on a 64bit system. Please help, i am stuck in a bit of a pickle...a very big pickle. Another weird thing is when i boot up normally theres a gap in the notification center in the bottom right hand side corner. I can hover my mouse over it but nothing happens when i click on it, that doesnt happen in safe mode.

Specs ? I had a similar problem , a random nvidia program was blocking my pc , it was using 100% of the CPU for no reason . I doubt that's your problem but yhea. It may be your hardware , it may be badly installed drivers...

That happens when some program is using 100% of your CPU, for me it was Divx Media server  but go to the task manager and see whats using your CPU

I really dont think it has anything to do with CPU. Everything runs fine as long as u dont type anything into the search or URL bar.
