Temperature issues, need some help :(

So, last december I assembled a PC for my wife to work as her laptop had died. As I was a little short on budget at that time, I decided to go for a small factor PC with this specs:

  • CPU: A10 6800K
  • Motherboard: Asrock FM2A75M-HD+
  • Cooler: Scythe Big Shuriken 2 rev B
  • Memory: 8GB DDR3 2133 G Skill Ares
  • Case: NOX Coolbay Slim

In the very moment I booted it, it became pretty clear that it had some temperature issues. While idle, the CPU was at 30ºC in iddle, when stressed it turned off itself at about 72ºC. It did it job though.... but it was VERY noisy.

So this week with a little more money in my pocket I decided to make an upgrade and orderd this components:

  • Case: Bitfenix Comrade (with an extra front fan)
  • Cooler: Cooler Master TX3 Evo

I tought that this could solve the trouble, but it remains the exact same as mentioned above, except for the noise.

I have always liked AMD, my own rig packs a 8320 which runs without any issues of any kind, but this 6800k is getting me very dissapointed and desperate, really. I suppose that the only one to blame is myself, I should have never tried to cut costs in cooling, but damn, this CPU is really hot, specially when gaming (or rather trying to), even Candy Crush can cause a thermal shutdown.

So, the question is ¿is there anything I could do without expending more money in it? ¿what other alternatives do I have?

I don't have experience with that processor, but I think the Seidon should work quite well. Just make sure to test for leaks (unlikely) to be safe, if you decide to get it.

Motherboard: MSI 770-C45 2606Mhz HT 200Mhz Bclk | CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE 3606Mhz | GPU: ASUS R9 270 DCU2 2GB 1125MHz Core 1500Mhz vRAM

By reading in some forums done people also mentioned that the mobo could be causing temperatures to go high. Could getting a new mobo be part of the solution?

I'm also thinking of tossing the 6800k in a river and switching to Intel...

What should I do to underclock the CPU?

Does the bios give you any voltage controls? If not, yea you'll prob have to either add the aio or upgrade.

Why not just get an 212X and call it a day?

I don't know where I could buy one of those in Spain, where I live. Are there any equivalent coolers?

Still, the main question is what kind of cooler do I need to get this processor under 72ºC at any circumstances.

Considering that 74° is the cpu max temperature (of that one,is on the amd site) you should get another air cooler...I had same problem, the stock amd cooler was really really loud and bad...I bought Cooler Master hyper 212 Evo,now temperatures are never above 60° (And this cpu is like oven 125 Watt + really hot room under roof ~30/35°)...Check ebay for it,you can find it for like 33/37 euro)

So, a 212 Evo is enough for this CPU? What about gaming, does it keep that 60°C thermal ceiling?

I really never tried the stock cooler, but from what I've seen it must be horrible.
