Need help on my PC

Go to solution Solved by Wano97,

Just to make sure this will support 2 gtx 780 ti(s) in sli correct? And one last question, is it 2 gtx 780 ti(s) or is it 2 gtx 780 ti? Its been bugging me like crazy!

It's one Gtx 780ti, or 2 Gtx 780ti's. And The corsair obsidian? Yes it will EASILY fit 2 780ti's, much better than a fractal design r4

It also supports 3 Gtx 780ti's, I don't know about 4

So, first time on this forum and I'm pretty sure I'm in the wrong place but oh wel....

Anways here is my build:

CPU Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core $228.99

Motherboard ASRock Z87 Pro3 ATX LGA1150 $79.99

Memory Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $77.99

Storage PNY XLR8 120GB 2.5" SSD $59.99

Storage #2: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $52.92

Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 780 3GB TWIN FROZR $469.99

Case Enermax ECA3310B-R ATX Mid Tower $42.49

Power Supply Thermaltake 650W ATX12V $49.99

My questions are:

1. Should I get a  Asus Maximus VI Hero Atx mobo or will the power supply not support it?

2. Will this build work with the GTX 780 ti or will the power supply not be enough?

Thanks for answering, I might not be able to reply back until tomorrow due to me working all night so sorry about that and also sorry about being very straight forward (kind of my habit). Thanks again.

I personally would go with another PSU

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cmpsu650hx

750w: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx750m

1. Why would you buy a 190$ mobo (Asus maximus VI hero)

2. Will probably be enough, but picking a 750w supple isn't hurting anyone, to be safe.

PSU should be enough. Could bump up to 700w or 750w to be safe. Try Corsair if you do, they make great PSUs.I would go with a more expensive mobo for more features. Worth it. Also, I don't think a good 650w PSU is only 50 bucks. Probably swap it out for higher quality. Don't want to cheap out on that.

Red Dragon: CPU: i5-4670k @4.1GHz RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport MOBO: MSI Z87-G45 GPU: EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 4GB PSU: Corsair RM750 COOLING: Corsair H100i MAIN MONITOR: Asus VG248QE

Other Devices: PHONE: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge LAPTOP: Gigabyte P55W-BW1 DAC/AMP: Audioengine D1 DAC HEADPHONES: Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm Mic: Blue Snowball

First of all, your rig wont consume more than 450W under load, which means you are just fine with any good psu with 500W or more. That way you can save yourself a bit of money. If you still feel unsure you can check out TinyTomLogan's video on psu wattages.

Secondly I would not recomment getting a 200 dollar motherboad unless you really need or want certain features of the Maximus IV.

Also Devils Canyon cpus have just come out and might be a nice improvement over your current cpu of choice (4690k instead of 4670k). With the 4690k you also do not need a z97 chipset for overclocking, as it will also work on any other 1150 chipset except h81.

Some parts like ram and ssd you chose do not come from a well known manufacturer. There are higher quality, equally priced alternatives on the market.

As you didnt give us a concrete budget limit, I just summed up the prices of all your parts and used it as a rough guideline for my following part choice. Also as you went with a red case, I chose all the following parts with a black and red theme in mind.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($239.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B85 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($82.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($59.99 @ Micro Center)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($52.92 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Superclocked ACX Video Card  ($474.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Enermax ECA3310B-R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($42.49 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1108.35

Sorry for not being specific on my budget limit. It would have to be $1,200 (USD) and in the future I was hoping to gaming on 3440x1440 resolution so that is why I was wanting a bigger power supply and a better mobo right now, so in the future I could add 1-2 gtx 780 ti and game on that monitor (I use for media/movies at the moment).

I like your build especially with the red and black theme but I was wondering weather or not could I get a bigger power supply and maybe a fractal design r4? Other than that thanks for your support!

Okay wait hold on, you're buying 2 780ti's in the future when you have a 780 right now? I'd say buy a 780ti straight away and buy one later on aswell. 2 780ti's will be plenty for 1440p gaming. Do not buy a 200$ motherboard for that reason. Your current mobo supports sli, stick with it. If you're actually planning on sli, I'm not sure if 750 watts will be enough.

A 780ti doesn't work with a 780 (If I'm not mistaken)

Sorry, I forgot to link the video. Of course you can get a slightly bigger psu, or even go with like a 750W for a possible second graphics card upgrade in the future. Anything from Corsair is a solid recommendation from me. Also the Define R4 is probably the best value case option out there, I highly recommend it.

Okay thanks for the info, also would 2 sli 780 ti(s) fit in a fractal design r4? I can easily upgrade my ps4 to a 800-850W. Thanks for info also this forum is awesome!

Sorry meant psu lol.

You can get a Corsair obsidian 750D to be future proof (Incase you're going 3 way sli etc), it's a much bigger and better looking (imo) case. And it's priced the same, also does better with cable management
