Thoughts on pfSense Firewall?

I am thinking of setting up pfSense as a Firewall/Router anyone else that uses it can tell me what its like?

Its awesome, you get the flexibility of an enterprise firewall/router without any of the cost.

 

Also, it can be pretty complex, if you don't know a lot about firewalls/routers you may want to start off with something like IPFire or m0n0wall or a similar project.

 

Edit: I use pfsense at home, work and etc. Even have multiple instances of pfsense loaded at home.

Very powerful. Maybe even too powerful (once you put a flat of guys together with an nmon instance running...)

Depending on what you want to do, you might be better off building a dedicated iptables machine instead.

pfSense is nice if you need a firewall machine that's simple, remotely manageable, has outrageously outdated documentation and a pretty GUI.
