I need a very inexpensive machine that will be used for the sole purpose of displaying powerpoint presentations. I was wanting to know if anyone had ideas on what I could use for this. It does't even have to be a computer per say. I just need something that can send a powerpoint to a display. I have looked into the Google Chromecast but it looks like the document casting is not quite ready yet.

Thanks for the help in advance.

The problem is, that it (the raspberry pi) only has an HDMI or a composite output. So no VGA port. I would just get a used/refurbished laptop for around 150$ and throw win xp and office on it. Maybe an old ibm/lenovo thinkpad?

I'm not really familiar with it. Can it be used for powerpoint presentations? How easy is it to set up?

It's a little DIY so if you re comfortable setting up Linux and don't need VGA then it would be great but IDK how you'd view the Powerpoint as it's ARM and PowerPoint Viewer is x86. It's a bit more expensive as you'll need at least a 2GB SO-DIMM, boot drive, and case/PSU but it should run XP quiet nicely. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135368&ignorebbr=1
