First Build

Hi guys, I'm new here!

I recently finally got to building my second rig and I'm thinking about watercooling it. I have zero experience with watercooling so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

My specs:

i7-4790

GTX 760 (planning to upgrade to 780 soon)

Corsair 750D case

Here are the components I am looking at:

EK High Performance 360 Rad

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/21322/ex-rad-646/EK_High_Performance_CoolStream_360_PE_Series_Liquid_Cooling_Radiator_EK-CoolStream_PE_360_Triple.html

EK DCP Pump

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/18968/ex-pmp-232/EK_DCP_22_12V_Water_Pump_EK-DCP_22_12V_DC_Pump.html

EK Supremacy Universal CPU Liquid Cooling Block - Acetal + Nickel

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16253/ex-blc-1134/EK_Supremacy_Universal_CPU_Liquid_Cooling_Block_-_Acetal_Nickel_EK-Supremacy_-_Acetal_Nickel.html

EK 250 Reservoir

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17509/ex-res-432/EK-MultiOption_RES_X3_250_-_Liquid_Cooling_Reservoir_6_Total_Ports.html

Tubing- any 3/8 ID x 1/2 OD tubing

Fittings x8

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/2296/ex-tub-38/Bitspower_G14_Thread_38_ID_x_12_OD_Compression_Fitting_-_Silver_BP-CPF-CC2.html

How does it look? I'm planning to upgrade my 760 to a 780 soon so I have to keep that in check for future watercooling.

My only concern right now is mounting the reservoir on my case as I have read elsewhere that it is difficult for this particular case.

Thanks guys!

Hey Dispect,

welcome to the forum. At first I suggest you read the stickys in this subforum:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1755-water-cooling-101-a-good-place-for-newbies-to-start/

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/5435-watercooling-faq-some-basic-qa/

As for your parts:

Go for a D5 Pump, there are also beautiful combinations with Top Covers and Tube Reservoirs all in one like this one:

Radiators and Fittings are up to you, there is not much difference.

Gotcha! I'll switch out the pump for that one. Other than that, everything seems fine?

Yeah, rest is fine. You don't need to buy such a high end CPU Block for your first build. Most of the time they dont differ that much. (a few °C in water temperature and pressure). EK Supremacy is really good, but you can also buy a EK Supreme block, they are almost as good but 20$ cheaper or a phobya LC-1 for instance to start with.

As I said, fittings are up to you (esthetics)

If you are concerned with mounting a tube reservoir you could always go for a 5.25" bay res, many come with a d5 pump option as well. Also as Graveworm says, there is not a huge amount of difference between most cpu blocks so I would get whatever you like best in your budget.

Rest looks fine.

However you might want to check if you need any 90 degree fittings or other angles before ordering all standard compression fittings. Could sketch out your loop or just try visualise it in your case. Dont want to get all your parts and start out only to realise you cant make a bend without a particular fitting. Various different angle rotary fittings can make the install much easier, avoid kinks or putting excess pressure on a component which can result in leaks or other damage.

Hope that helps!

If i were you i would use this radiator for way better cooling than the 360mm radiator and i would really go with the Supremacy CPU block, as it cost less as was previously expressed.

You have not expressed any fans and tubes.

Some suggestions,

For the radiator i recommended, Choice 1  ------ For you radiator Choice 1

For your tubing check out Primochill they have a great variety.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Only thing is that personally I would stay away from anything EK that was nickel plated.  They had a plating issue several years ago that burned many of us in the watercooling community and they did not handle it properly basically blaming the customers the entire time.  They eventually did offer us replacement blocks but by then most of us had gone and got other stuff.  I'd check out the Bitspower Summit if you want the acryllic look or the XSPC Raystorm.

What do you guys think about XSPC kits? I did some looking and found that they have pretty affordable kits out there, specifically this one-

http://www.amazon.com/XSPC-Raystorm-Extreme-Universal-Dead-Water/dp/B00I8PJN3O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1402964523&sr=8-3&keywords=xspc

That is totally ok for a Beginner. Even though I was very angry at them for there Pump/Res combos (mine cracked, 2 Month old) but this set is totally ok.
