So I try playing Sleeping Dogs and it freezes at the first loading screen even with settings set to low.

I meet the minimum requirements right now so I figured I should be able to play it considering I can run BF3 at 25-30 FPS on medium settings and DayZ I reach up to 60FPS in some spots I don't get it has any one else had this issue?

once I get my video card in the only thing keeping me from the recommended specs is my CPU I should have no problem playing the game...could it be a steam issue should I try restarting steam?

Other than verifying your temps via software or directly through hardware, I would check your Event Viewer logs for any corrupt or missing .dll files.

Try running it as administrator.

I've never heard of running a game as an administrator but I guess I'll give it a shot it's not gonna hurt

There's a youtube video of a guy playing Sleeping dogs with an E-350 and 6320 integrated ... so no reason yours shouldn't be able to.

Drivers ... Re-install game ... repair game maybe ... Set back to stock clocks on your chip (you're overclocked right ? does that OC your 8470D as well ?)

Go to your Library in Steam.  Right-click Sleeping Dogs > Properties.  Click the Local Files tab > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Here's an example with Max Payne 3:

  • 2 weeks later...

I also am having problems with frequent crashing of the exe. I have tried running it as an administrator and forcing vertical sync off through Nividia Graphics control panel. The only thing that has prevented crashing is running it in compatibility mode for Windows 98. But this causes very unpleasant frame drops and audio glitches. Is there any way to actually fix this satisfactorily? I have an ivy bridge k series i5 which is not overclocked, 8 GB of ram, and a GTX 780 with the latest beta drivers installed.
