Pretty sure this was proven false seeing as even the most high-end GK110 chip which is used on the Tesla K20X can only get 2,688 CUDA cores. Getting 2,880 CUDA (the max amount for the GK110) cores is physically impossible since that would imply that NVIDIA has to produce a perfect GK110 chip.

 

Also, this was already post quite a while ago.
